Frequently asked questions
Which marketplace has the lowest selling fees?
For a $40 item with $8 shipping and 7% sales tax, Depop takes the least: $2.14. Poshmark takes the most: $8.00. The order can change with the price, so try your own numbers above.
Why does shipping change the comparison?
On eBay, Etsy and Facebook Marketplace you charge the buyer for shipping and buy the label yourself, and the fees are charged on the shipping too. On Depop (with a Depop label), Poshmark and Whatnot the buyer pays the platform for shipping and you get a prepaid label, so shipping is neither income nor a cost for you. This page assumes you charge the buyer exactly what the label costs.
Will an item sell for the same price on every marketplace?
Not always. Buyers pay different totals on different platforms (for example, Depop adds a buyer fee in the US, and Poshmark sets its own shipping price), and each marketplace has its own audience. Use this page to compare fees, then use your own sold prices for each platform.
What isn't included?
The comparison uses each marketplace's standard US rates for most categories: eBay without a Store, Whatnot's 8% commission, Depop without Boosting. It leaves out eBay promoted listings and category rates, Etsy Offsite Ads, Whatnot volume discounts and Poshmark's Texas tax. Each marketplace's own calculator handles the options it supports.
